All-Optical Non-Inverted Parity Generator and Checker Based on Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers

An all-optical non-inverted parity generator and checker based on semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) are proposed with four-wave mixing (FWM) cross-gain modulation (XGM) non-linear effects. A 2-bit using by exclusive NOR (XNOR) OR (XOR) gates implemented first SOA second 10 Gb/s return-to-zero (RZ) code, respectively. The check bits provided adjusting the center wavelength of tunable bandpass filter (TOBPF). saturable absorber (SA) is used to reduce negative effect small signal clock (Clk) probe light improve extinction ratio (ER) signal-to-noise (OSNR). For Pe Ce (even bit even bit) without Clk light, ER OSNR still maintain good performance because amplified SOA. Po (odd bit), improved 1 dB difference for original value. Co deteriorated 4 SA, while 12 dB. about 2 value SA. This design has advantages simple structure great integration capability low cost.
